Our Mission

To provide horses a second chance through a holistic rehabilitating, retraining, and rehoming (3R) program. To rebrand equine training through collaborative partnerships, creative solutions, and inclusive education.

Our Vision

Project PR believes every horse should be given the time, attention, and opportunity to recover to performance level. Through 3R, all horses can have fulfilling lives as athletes, therapy or companion animals, or educators.

Rehabilitate

Whether abandoned, run-down, injured, or sick, horses may need rehabilitation for a variety of reasons. Project PR will work with horses that need extra attention, care, and/or time to heal. Rehabilitation includes time off, easy ground work and under saddle work (if possible), and gentle human touch, as well as necessary veterinary and farrier services.

Retrain

Rehabilitated horses will enter into a minimum 90-day retraining program. Retraining includes both ground work and under saddle exercises. Horses will be assessed regularly on behavior, physicality, and endurance to determine effectiveness of the program. If a horse requires more time, a different schedule, or more rehabilitation, changes will be made accordingly.

In addition to its program horses, Project PR understands that individuals may acquire horses that need retraining. After an assessment, Project PR can develop a training curriculum for both owner and horse to guide them towards a sustainable and meaningful partnership.

Rehome

Once rehabbed and/or retrained, a horse may be placed in a safe and appropriate home. The home must meet certain criteria to ensure the long-term safety of the horse.

While Project PR hopes to rehome as many horses as possible, under some circumstances horses may remain permanently in the care of Project PR.
