Kayla Kelly-Slatten

Horses have always been a privilege in the Kelly-Slatten family, something you must work for to fully enjoy the animal and the sport. While Kayla was fortunate enough to grow up with a mother and aunt who played polo professionally, she was also fortunate enough to be taught that money is not everything in the equine world. While money can buy the best tack, imported horses, and groom service, the best riders, athletes, and passions are developed through hard work, grit, and any horse you can get your hands on.

Over the years of schooling and work, Kayla managed to keep horses in her life. In college, after lettering in equestrian in high school, she worked at the Fresno State Quarter Horse Unit, breaking and training yearlings. In law school, Kayla worked part time as an assistant trainer at Stone Mountain Stables in Pennsylvania. And after graduation, Kayla moved back to California where she continued to ride her family’s retired horses with her mother before finally being able to afford a new off-the-track-thoroughbred, Ricky.

Kayla is now a trainer in Temecula, California, specializing in retraining and rehabilitating horses. Visit “Our Horses” to get to know her clients.
